History of the (Brow) Forehead Lift
Concepts of beauty of the eyes and the upper face are evident to those who study history and art. For example, in the 17th century, a smooth prominent forehead denoted regal beauty and wisdom. Today a smooth forehead denotes beauty, vitality, and contentment. As for the eyes, they are the focal point of our attention and can trigger communication and emotion. Open eyes suggest alertness and a readiness to communicate. For women, the prominence of the eyes on their smaller faces marks feminine beauty.
However, the earliest signs of aging emerge in the upper face. Horizontal lines and furrows (frown lines) form over the brow and the eyebrows descend de-emphasizing and even shrinking the appearance of the eyes. These changes make a person appear tired, worried, and even angry.
How do we help?
By gently repositioning the following tissue that blocks the eyes with the most modern procedure, endoscopic forehead lift. With endobrowlift there is no need for shaving hair and no need for large scalp incisions.
The endoscopic forehead lift (endobrow lift) is a minimally invasive surgery that elevates the eyebrows and reduces frown lines, thereby removing brow heaviness, opening the eyes and smoothing the forehead. The result: a refreshed youthful appearance.
The endoscopic procedure has several advantage to its surgical counterparts: it only requires three to five small incisions (about one inch in length) instead of the traditional ear-to-ear incision, the hairline remains unaltered, no hair is removed or shaved, and the procedure can be performed with or without elevation of the brows. The endoscopic procedure also means faster recovery time and inconspicuous scarring. This procedure can be performed alone or in combination with a Facelift, Blepharoplasty, Endoscopic Mid-face lift or other desired procedures.

- Preparation: Hair is placed in small rubber bands to keep it secure. Many times patient are concerned and ask - "Will my hair be cut?" This is not the case with the endoscopic browlift. There is no need for shaving or cutting of hair.
- Dr. Goldman will make three to five short incisions (each less than 1 inch in length) along the scalp. An endoscope (a tiny camera) is inserted into one of the incisions allowing Dr. Goldman to view the muscles and tissue beneath the skin.
- Through another incision, Dr. Goldman lifts the forehead skin and adjusts or removes the muscles to produce a smoother appearance. He may also lift the eyebrows and secure them into a higher position with sutures beneath the skin's surface or with temporary fixation screws placed behind the hairline.
- The scalp incisions are closed with stitches or clips and the area is washed. Gauze and elastic bandages are applied.
Post-Op information - Endoscopic Browlift
After the procedure, patients may experience some numbness, swelling or discomfort at the incision sight. This is normal and usually will pass with time. Incision site pain is usually minimal, but can be controlled with medication if necessary. Swelling can be treated with cold compresses for the first few days.
Within two days you should be up and about, although you should continue to take it easy. On the first morning after surgery your bandage is changed. Over the next few days you will be able to change your bandage as instructed. Within a week, stitches and clips are removed and within two weeks surgical pins are removed. Within three weeks most of the visible signs of surgery should be gone but is it not unusual to have some swelling.
Although patients will probably feel ready to return to work within seven to ten days following the procedure, they should plan to take it easy and limit rigorous activity for several weeks. Prolonged heat and sun exposure should be limited for several months.
