Midfacelift Surgery Patient:
Note the hollow underneath the right eyelid becomes a depression before the cheek. After surgery you can see by slightly elevating this tissue underneath the eye this hollow becomes less pronounced. Movement of these tissues around the lower eyelid is called a mid-facelift. It is a subtle change of the tissues to help balance and round the contour where depressions begin to occur.

Midfacelift Surgery Patient:
Not only does she have heavy brow tissue that is hanging below the bony portion of her orbital rims, but she also has excess upper eyelid tissue and a hollow underneath her lower eyelid. It's important when you look at facial rejuvenation that you look at all surrounding areas to understand how they will they will complement each other. Doing just eyelid surgery on a patient like this will not help how the eyes will balance with the rest of the face. In this case, by doing a mid-facelift and raising the small fat pad underneath the hollow of the eye, she gets a rounding to the cheek that blunts the lower lid "bag". It is much more natural than removing this bag since it doesn't create a hollow but keeps a more natural gentle contour to the face.
