Facial Paralysis Patient:
Some patients are born with asymmetric functioning facial nerves or have an injury to a facial nerve or "Bell's palsy". As you can see, this woman's right eyebrow is heavy and this causes the folds of skin underneath her eye to droop down over her pupil, blocking her vision. In patients who have young healthy skin, we can use minimally invasive endoscopic forehead lift, and half of a brow lift through small incisions using telescopes hidden behind the hair. As you can see, this relieves the heavy weight of her brow, improving her ability to seel. In older patients because of the laxity of skin we sometimes use other procedures but recovery with endoscopic forehead procedures is quick with fewer complications than the larger procedures. |
