Vascular Lesion Patient 1:
Patients with vascular lesions don't always need treatment. When the vascular lesions grow in rapid progression they can be treated early. Some vascular lesions will resolve on their own as children grow but when they encroach upon important structures such as the eye or the mouth. To treat them we use a pulsed-dye 585 wave length laser. In this patient you can see how our intervention with the pulsed-dye laser and her maturation have led it to resolve. |

Vascular Lesion Patient 2:
Port-wine stains are congenital vascular malformations that progressively and slowly grow over the course of a lifetime. One of the most annoying characteristic of these is the progressive thickening of the skin that occurs producing and "elephant-like" texture to the skin. Using the pulsed-dye laser, which has a selective wavelength for blood vessels we can treat this and even the texture of the skin, as well as decrease the amount of pigmentation. Treatments are done in sessions approximately six weeks apart without anesthesia. We can make significant changes but frequently cannot even get a complete resolution with this tumor. Evening of the texture and lightening of the pigmentation makes it significantly easier for these patients to camouflage their lesions. |
